Ruthann Brady

Mixed

Bio:

Ruthann Brady became interested in painting after retiring from “Verizon”. She accompanied her husband, Kenneth, to Europe in 1997 when his work presented the opportunity.

With time for meditation and reflection, Brady searched for ways of self expression,

exploration. “After countless beginnings to write how I felt, I realized I express myself in a

visual way.” Living in Brussels, Belgium and traveling extensively on the continent and

England, Brady visited all the major museums and there were always sidewalk exhibitions.

Vacationing in Wales, Brady and her husband stayed at a Farm Bed and Breakfast. Their host was a retired art teacher. She said “anyone can learn to paint”. Brady has been learning ever since.

Brady describes her work as always in transition. “It evolves as I do through experience and exploration. I often begin painting without any preconceived plan. I flow with the rhythm and process, pouring manipulating and allowing the visual magic to take me on a journey. I choose the colors, medium, substrate, size and amounts and direction of flow. Beautiful colors, patterns and forms emerge. This is my favorite way to create as I feel my real spirit is imparted to the painting and hopefully will resonate allowing the viewer a spiritual journey of their own”.

Brady is the recipient of the “Best of Show” award 2005 and 3rd place 2008 “Wabash Valley Art Guild” Spring Exhibition. Brady has exhibited in juried exhibitions at “Arts Illiana”, Paris Art Center” and “Halcyon Contemporary Gallery”. She exhibited solo at Java Haute August and September 2008. Brady is a founding member of “River City Art Association, Inc. and is Represented by the “Raven Gallery” 817 Ohio Street Terre Haute, IN
