Bio:
Born in 1953, I am a life long resident of Terre
Haute, In. I attended area schools and that is where
I learned most of my art, I also attended Ivy Tech
where I obtained an Associates Degree in
photography. I believe an artist should create new
and exciting images that will make one pause and
wonder, to capture the imagination of the viewer. If
I can photograph something why should I paint it?
I have chosen surrealism to express myself for this
reason. I love the complete creativity of the style.
The artwork of Spanish surrealist, Salvador Dali has
been a big influence in my work. Unlike Dali
however, I am a born again Christian, therefore, I
will not produce any work that is obscene or
sacrilegious. Most artists paint only what can be
seen, I paint that which only I can see.
In his work “Justice; Corrupted”, Griffith used the
image of Blind Justice in a corrupted fashion to
show what “I believe is a state of mans “justice”
toward his fellow man in society today” comments
Griffith. “Justice; Corrupted” was awarded “First
Premium”, “Best of Show”, and Champion at the Vigo
County Fair
